Book Nostalgia and Time-Life Nature

My friend Kim wrote an outstanding blog post about the books that she remembers reading over and over as a kid, the Time Life Nature Library.

And I would look at them for hours. It’s not quite accurate to say I “read” them — the text itself was rather dense and heady, but every chapter had a photo section, and all of the other pages had a small line drawing with a caption, and I’d often pull one down from the shelf, curl up in a chair, and read all the captions and study all the pictures.
