Book Meme Day 19: Love a Book By Its Cover
While I appreciate good cover art, this is, again, a tough one. I have very rarely met a book where the cover art so arrests me that I’d like to hang it on my wall.
Although, art-as-cover-design does make me happy. I like where Lauren Willig’s covers are going, period portraiture used as the art.
I love that many poetry books go for abstract art or paintings, aiming to suggest the mood of the poems within. Derek Walcott, Billy Collins, even some editions of the Odyssey.
The Westing Game comes close to an all time favorite because the image is funky and clever. (original, or near-original cover art please!) See, look, here it is on my bed!
