A Conversation with Neil Gaiman (in 140 characters or fewer)

March 25, 2011

Neil Gaiman answered my question on Twitter!  And apparently did a stint editing Fitness magazine. I would love to find the issue(s) he had a hand in. Now, of course, I’m wondering what fitness advice the author of American Gods and Sandman would offer. And trying to picture him as a personal trainer.

“Drop and give me 20 or I will write a story where horrifying monsters from your subconscious menace you into insanity?”

“Do another 10 lunges and I’ll write an excellent tale of urban mythology, just for you?”

That would be the best workout ever!

And another Twitterer, @paulswinnipeg, asked a great question: What one character of yours would you most want to run into in the supermarket? Neil’s answer: Merv Pumpkinhead. I do not think I’ve read the relevant story, and now I’m curious.

I’ve never heard of Merv Pumkinhead! what book is he from?

too cool! he’s back on the train and tweeting again, so I sent him who he’d choose to play Shadow in movie version of American Gods.

Merv is one of the supporting characters from Sandman.
