Halfway Through the Read-a-Thon Meme

April 9, 2011

Wow! Hour 12! Three books down, plenty of caffeine in my system, and life is good. Here’s a meme from the Read-a-Thon Team

1. What are you reading right now? Just finished Fish Out of Agua by Michele Carlo, on to Shadows Bright as Glass by Amy Ellis Nutt.
2. How many books have you read so far? 3
3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon? Shadows Bright as Glass, I think, then following it up with a mystery.
4. Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day? I did. I went to my parents’ house, where my dad is amused, cheering me on, and checking out the Dewey’s site with me. He’s very impressed! He’s also making me pasta with sausages for dinner! My favorite!
5. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? No interruptions. I’ve even read while eating a sandwich and waiting for my tea to steep. See #4
6. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far? I swore I thought I would read faster. I feel a little panicky that it’s already halfway over and I’ve “only” read three books!
7. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year? Nope
8. What would you do differently, as a Reader or a Cheerleader, if you were to do this again next year? Bring more mysteries, and possibly buy fewer snacks. Though who knows, the extra hummus and veggies might meet their demise at 2 AM. Also, more chocolate!
9. Are you getting tired yet? I did a little while ago, around hour 8. But I perked up with some tea!
10. Do you have any tips for other Readers or Cheerleaders, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered? Alternate between green and black tea, it keeps me awake but not jittery. Alternating between wildly different genres is working nicely too. And cheese. Definitely cheese.

The dinner that your dad is making sounds really delicious! I’m a little bit jealous. 😉

Enjoy the second half of the readathon!!

Wow, at three books read, you’re doing GREAT! I’m still working on my one chunkster. I’ll be lucky if I finish it during the Read-a-Thon! Here’s wishing you good luck with the next twelve hours…
