The Book Thief- review

May 9, 2011

Just finished reading The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak. I think the only reason the story didn’t make me cry was the way the language played out, all full of metaphor, and trills of color, and beautiful images. A snowman in a basement. A man with hair like bird feathers. Death, speaking for itself.
“In the uneven circle, the minutes soaked by.”
“Papa’s eyes started corroding.”

I’m going to settle this book on my poetry shelf.

Amazing.
