Dewey’s Read-a-Thon Mid-Event Survey

October 22, 2011

Have reached the midpoint, and have polished off two books, and a plate of excellent pasta. I feel like I’ve spent the past 2-3 hours dithering about what book to read next.

So, here’s a survey!

1. What are you reading right now? I’m still feeling very between books. I tried on a terrible romance, the next Percy Jackson, The Arsonist’s Guide to Authors’ Homes in New England (love the title) a Scottish mystery, and a funny book about the English. Nothing’s stuck so far. Argh!
2. How many books have you read so far? Two, and they were terrific.
3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon? Any book that will sweep me away.
4. Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day? Yep, headed out to New Jersey, to hang out with my dad, who is indulging me by making me the world’s best pasta sauce, and letting me borrow his laptop. He even let me borrow one of his library books, to deal with the aforementioned 3rd book selection quandary!
5. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? Just for dinner, and have been interrupting myself, to play on Twitter or peruse blogs, as I can’t seem to settle into a book.
6. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far? That I can’t get into a third book! Eeesh!
7. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year? Nope! I’m delighted!
8. What would you do differently, as a Reader or a Cheerleader, if you were to do this again next year? Less relying on Kindle, more junky mysteries, shorter books.

9. Are you getting tired yet? Frustrated with figuring out which book to read next.
10. Do you have any tips for other Readers or Cheerleaders, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered? I stand by my discovery last year that alternating green and black tea is a good way to stay sprightly and alert.

Hopefully you have a found a book that has really sucked you in. Even if you haven’t…at least it is fun to participate 🙂

    *Keep it up,
    You’re doing great,
    Read lots of books,
    And stay up late!*
