Bookish Questions To Ask My Family at Thanksgiving

November 19, 2011

I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving. As usual, it will be a huge gathering- pretty much everyone on my mom’s side of the family. Mom is one of six sisters, so I think we’re expecting… twenty-five or so?

I’m making cranberry sauce today, and looking forward to Thursday. Turkey! Pie! Getting to see aunts and uncles and cousins.

The conversation around the table is probably going to get loud and boisterous. And it’s also likely to get bookish. I come from a family of avid readers, crossword puzzle fiends, and pun makers.

In a turkey and stuffing haze, one year, we made a pact to read The House Of Mirth together, in tandem. Thankfully, that idea was forgotten as we digested.

I’ve asked: What book have you read the most times? What’s your least favorite book?

And of course, I’ll catch up with what everyone’s reading now, and head back from Thanksgiving with a list for the library.

What do you think? What kinds of bookish questions should we ponder over our pie? What book should we absolutely all pledge to read?

I’m not sure about questions, but I’m so jealous! No one in my family even comes close to appreciating books as much as I do. Though a lot of them are quite intelligent and successful they just don’t read for pleasure very much. I would love to be able to have bookish conversations like this with my family! Have a good thanksgiving =)
