Booking Through Thursday: Gifts

December 22, 2011

This week, Booking Through Thursday asks

Any books you’re hoping to get for the holidays this year?

How about giving? Are you giving any good ones?

Well, since my parents sometimes read my blog, I’m not going to say much about the books I’m giving this year. It wouldn’t do to tip my hand. I will, however, say that I shopped at Partners and Crime and The Strand.

Before Christmas, I managed to give a very cool birthday present. One I’d stashed away months before, because it was beyond perfect, for my friend Lisa. Lisa is a talented graphic designer and especially good with typography and fonts. When I was in Edinburgh, checking out the book festival, I spotted Just My Type, by Simon Garfield.

Too perfect. In fact, so perfect that I spent the months leading up to Lisa’s December birthday wondering whether she’d bought it/read it already! But, she hadn’t, and she loved it. Gift-giving triumph.

That reminds me, a funny thing happened last year, with a book under the Christmas tree.

As for getting? I think, what I really need, is a new bookshelf!

Yes, a bookshelf sounds good for all of your books.
    Happy Holidays!
