Words of wisdom from Jim Henson
Went to see the Jim Henson exhibit at the Museum of the Moving Image today. It was every bit as wonderful as I expected. I think I knew Henson had done commercials, but I had never seen any of them… Delightfully silly!
I might have had the fleeting thought that I wanted to hug the display of Kermit. Yes, glass case and all. And it was wonderful to see sketches and storyboards that went on to become Muppets I have known and loved dearly. One of the people who put together the exhibit was there at the same time as my friends and I, and I think Lisa urged him to put together a set of prints from the exhibit.
I would dearly love a print of the preliminary storyboard for the Muppet Show opening sequence.
A couple of quotes I jotted down from the man himself:
“He’s sort of a comfortable middle of the raoder. Very much what I am. I have the feeling he’s desperately trying to keep things rolling. And he’s surrounded by all these crazies.”
“I believe that we form our lives, that we create our own reality and that everything works out for the best. I know I drive people crazy with what seems to be ridiculous optimism, but it has always worked out for me.
