Behind the scenes at the Daily News Library… both of them!

April 6, 2012

A few weeks ago, I got to go look at the Daily News library. I grew up around newspapers including the Daily News in its original building, (hi Dad!) and have worked as a freelance journalist myself. Until a few years ago, though, I hadn’t thought much about newspaper libraries and the role they played in helping the news happen.

Starting a library science degree was an excellent excuse to spend some time talking about newspapers and the evolution of their library needs over time.

Many thanks to all who contributed to this paper: Ed, Ellen, Bruce and Vinny. And, of course, Dad.

The text of my paper, behind the cut.
