Bookish Wanderlust

June 21, 2012

The librarian blogs and Twitter feeds I read are full of anticipation for ALA, kicking off today in Anaheim.

I’m living vicariously through a Pratt student blog about it.

Librarians and the people who love libraries and books, all gathering together, meeting and having great discussions about the field. I haven’t gone to a conference yet, but I’d really like to go. Maybe midwinter.

And Dad just sent me a link to the Edinburgh Book Festival schedule. I went last year, and I loved it. I love Edinburgh generally as well.

Of course, I have plenty of books to read. The YA Genre lit class is winding down, which makes me sad. But it was full of interesting discussion, and book recommendations. And I started a website about historical fiction. I suspect it’ll take on a life of its own after class.

But I think I need to take a literary trip of some kind in July or August. A weekend jaunt with a bag of books and a good literary discussion.
