Booking Through Thursday: Twofer

July 26, 2012

Today, Booking Through Thursday asks two questions:

Do you have a favorite season of the year that you read more?

I don’t think it extends to an entire season as a favorite time to read more for the sake of loving to read. Certainly, since I started grad school, and then finished up the semester and the six-week summer semester, I’ve used the available free time to read so many library books. (It helps that all my holds came in at once.) I feel like I finally have time to catch up. I’m not catching up. There’s no way I’m catching up. I have so many books in my reading queue. I have so many books in my apartment, unread. Books keep being published.
It’s somewhere between overwhelming and a realization that makes me grin.
So, the short answer is that I read whenever I have time. And the more time I have to read, the happier I am.
Ideally, I have a couple of books that I like to reread in the fall, because their stories suit being reread in the fall. One is, of course, The Westing Game, by Ellen Raskin. That’s the work of a few hours to reread. The second is Tam Lin, by Pamela Dean, which I don’t think I’ve reread in a few years. I should remedy this. Possibly before school starts. School starts at the end of August. That’s before Labor Day. That’s a bit weird to have classes start so soon. I’m looking forward to it, but I’m also nervous about juggling classes and ye day job doing/learning publicist things at ye business books company. We shall see how it all goes.

Second question: Where is your favorite place to read?
The subway, stretched out in bed or on my couch, snuggled into the nice green easy chair in the corner by my bookshelves. Across an obliging patch of grass on a nice day. In one of the chairs at the Pratt library. At my parents’ house. In another country, on vacation. I don’t have a favorite. That’s a bit like asking me the impossible, to pick a favorite book.

Looking over my reading for each month it looks like I like each season, but I do have my favorite seasons for reading, and my favorite place to read.

Good answers! I do relate to having to fit reading in between other activities…like school or work. Nowadays, I can read more freely. Here’s MY THURSDAY MEMES POST

I’m the same I read pretty much the same all year but as a setting to read in definitely prefer one season over the next. My BTT
