Good Morning, Read-a-Thon!

April 27, 2013

I woke up an hour ago, and couldn’t get back to sleep. Christmas morning sort of feeling, I guess. I’m looking forward to today. I’m about 80 pages into The Chalice by Nancy Bilyeau, a Tudor mystery, rich and complex. Haven’t gotten far enough into it to make the world disappear just yet, but I bet that will happen after the next chapter or two, and after coffee and breakfast, which are imminent.

Introductory Meme:

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

Long Island, NY
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

Oh, good question! I’d been looking forward to my current read The Chalice, because it’s been sitting on my shelf for ages. I’m also looking forward to finishing it today and starting another book because of the nice, vacation feeling of two books in one day.
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

Possibly cheddar cheese and cucumber because it’s a delicious combination, and because my parents look at me strangely.
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!

I’m in graduate school for a Masters in Library Science, and not quite done with my semester yet… got one more weekend of doing projects before I’m done. I also work as a publicist for a business books company. So… lots of bookishness in my life. My favorite part about the Read-a-Thon is connecting with people from other places, so if you say hi in the comments or on Twitter @ewillse, I’d love it if you tell me where you’re from.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

As much as I kind of love the insanity of staying up impossibly late into the night, I don’t think that’s in the cards today- I’m going for at least 12 hours of reading fiction (and bed at a reasonable time, sigh) before I’m back to doing homework and school stuff tomorrow. I’m thinking I might take another sort of mini-readathon day for myself this summer, after everything’s handed in.

Good luck with your reading – I also have studying and work stuff to do tomorrow so can’t manage the full 24 hours.
