Book Expo 2013! Hooray!
Tomorrow is the start of the Book Expo.
Where did most of May go?
Wasn’t I just finishing up my projects for Information Policy and Digital Libraries? Don’t I have homework to do?
Oh wait, I just had a birthday (and an excellent one it was), so it must be Book Expo time.
I see a handful of familiar names: Eloisa James, Kieran Kramer, Holly Black, Jeffrey Deaver, Diana Gabaldon (though I’ve never read her) Neil Gaiman (!!!!)
There’s a book described as “Say Anything meets Ender’s Game” and I can’t decide whether that’s an intriguing or alarming idea. There’s a butler’s memoir, and a book about the history of different drinks. Plenty of historical fiction and mysteries too!
And of course, there’s the delightful potential of all the Editors Buzz panels, and Librarians’ Buzz and Shout & Share, each with a whole wonderful listing of books I haven’t heard of. What bliss!
I will not leave the Book Expo with a stack of books taller than I am… I will not. I will not….
While I have a few books on my radar, I think the thing I’m most looking forward to is connecting with librarians, both friends I already know and getting to know new librarians, and learn about the work they do. The librarians I met at BEA in years past played a huge role in my decision to go to library school. Librarians are pretty awesome.
I’ll be off duty from my publicist life as of Thursday morning, so I’ll be free to revel in all the books and book people.
I got a pedometer recently. I should wear it during the Expo. That’s going to be hilarious.
