Merry end of Semester!
I didn’t realize I hadn’t updated the blog since September!
Whee! It was quite a semester with Research Methods and Metadata. And work. I feel like I learned a lot from both classes. Including knowing that I have so much more to learn.
I learned about research from the ground up, working in a group with my class to design a survey and get it launched. My professor wants to work with me to get the paper for her class good enough to submit to an academic journal. So that’s extremely exciting, though it’ll be a week or two before I want to touch that paper again. I learned about metadata schemas, how to explain what metadata is to non-librarians (still working on that part) and interned at the Human Resources Administration, where I got to do terrific things like help organize exhibits, and help build a massive catalog of executive orders.
Work chugged along. I’ve had lovely nice authors to work with, so it’s been fun to publicize their books. (Even if I sometimes look at some of the blogs for executives and feel out of my depth saying “Hey, so you want a book about CEO things?”) I’m still learning, but the learning curve is starting not to feel steep.
I can see from my GoodReads that I managed to read fiction this semester. Lots of it!
I’m kind of astonished.
I have some time off. This is how I plan to spend it.
